Manchester City vs CSKA Moscow (Champions League, 05.11.2014)

November 4, 2014 0 Betting, News, Predictions, Soccer

Manchester City returned to winning ways after a win over their city rivals during the weekend which could mean the errors allowed in the match against CSKA will not be repeated again. The return leg after the disaster that was the 2-2 draw sees CSKA on the second place in their domestic league, and Manchester City are third in the Premier League with 20 points out of 10 matches.

The Citizens crumbled after the draw from two weeks ago, and went on to lose two domestic games in a row, before winning the one against Man United. The hosts are in a very dangerous position in group E, they only have two points out of three games, and another misstep is not allowed as they have two points less than Roma with whom they need to play and then host Bayern Munich in the last matchday. Kolarov got injured before the game against United which means Clichy will most likely take his place. Silva, Lampard and Mangala are the other names Pellegrini has on the sidelines, with the latter set to undergo a fitness test prior to the match.
CSKA come from a defeat against Zenit, and while Kirill Panchenko and Rasmus Elm will miss from the squad they are finally getting Dzagoev back from suspension. Chances are CSKA will feature a heavy defensive line, while Ahmed Musa will try to temper City’s counter attacks, seeing as his speed allows him to play with the best Premier League names.

Manchester City has the quality to overcome CSKA, especially since they are playing at home, and remember last year’s 5-2 win where Alvaro Negredo scored a hat trick. Now their main task will be to get the ball somewhere in the penalty area and try to create scoring chances from the wings, and if they open the score early things would settle down pretty easily.

William Hill’s headline offers for this match are: Toure to score and Man City to win with 3.00 odds and Musa to score and CSKA to win with 29.00 odds. Last year’s 5-2 result to repeat itself has 67 odds, and the Citizens for both halves has 1.61 odds. Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko to score anytime with 2.10 odds, and we’re betting 5 units on the reverse wincast market of Doumbia to score and Man City to win at 6.00 odds.

Borussia Dortmund vs Galatasaray (Champions League, 04.11.2014)

November 3, 2014 0 Betting, Predictions, Soccer

Borussia Dortmund return to Champions League action in the only competition that still has the Germans acting like their old selves as they host Galatasaray. The bookmakers have no doubt in signaling Dortmund as the favorites to win, despite the fact that they are now in the Bundesliga’s relegation zone.

Nobody knows exactly what happened to Dortmund in the domestic competition, and when not even your captain can provide a reason, the fans are left at a loss altogether. Their latest stunt comes from the 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, where even if we saw a glimpse of the old Dortmund side, it wasn’t enough for a win. Mats Hummels will be out for three weeks following a foot injury picked up during the weekend, and Subotic needs to step up his game if he wants Weidenfeller to keep another clean sheet.
Meanwhile, Galatasaray are the opposite of Dortmund in Champions League, they excel in their domestic league, but are on the last place in their Champions League group, with only one point from three games. Their recent league game saw Sneijder and Pandev on the bench which can only point towards a sure start against Dortmund as while the hosts will play for a qualification from the first place, Galatasaray will be going home if they lose.

Borussia Dortmund thrived on counter attacks when they were at their best, but now they don’t do that pressing game anymore which of course, leaves them exposed at the back where without Hummels they are a disaster. The front line does not look any better, as while Ramos, Aubameyang and Reus could become Borussia Dortmund’s deadliest trio, Klopp seems to be insisting on an Immobile, Reus and Mkhitaryan one, which is not as effective if you look at the top scorer list of the competition.

Among the most popular bets with Unibet are Dortmund to win with 1.22 odds, and both teams to score at 1.91. A Galatasaray win has 13.50 odds, and Dortmund to win without conceding has 1.91 odds. Marco Reus to score anytime has 1.73 odds, Ramos 1.82 and Aubameyang 1.93 while Galatasaray to score in the first half has 3.15 odds. We are betting 8 units on Borussia Dortmund to win both halves at 2.30 odds from Unibet.

Lorient vs Paris Saint Germain (Ligue 1, 01.11.2014)

October 31, 2014 0 News, Predictions, Soccer

Paris Saint Germain are the only unbeaten side left in Ligue 1 and they had a full week to prepare for the trip to Lorient seeing as they were eliminated from the Coupe de la Ligue. The visitors know how important a win will be to keep up the pace with Marseille, while Lorient, on the brink of relegation after 11 matches played will push for the win that will push them above Caen on the table.

Lorient has only one win in the last six matches, and in their last three defeats they were unable to score at least a goal; all this while having 14 goals against. Their most recent result is a qualification in the next stages of Coupe de la Ligue after coming from behind a goal to beat Evian with 1-2. Their main player, Jordan Ayew was satisfied with his team’s performance even if he admits that Lorient will have to be at their best if they are to walk away with at least one point. Diallo, Autret and Lautoa will miss due to injuries, while Ripoli will hope they can cut back on the difference in class.
PSG won comfortably against Bordeaux, Sirigu kept a clean sheet, but Thiago Silva insists that his team is not thinking about the derby against Marseille. With Ibrahimovic still nursing his ever present injury, PSG will get Cavani back from suspension, and hopefully no red cards will be shown this match. Lucas Moura scored two of the goals against Bordeaux, Lavezzi got the third one and Thiago Motta is also picking up form after missing out for quite some time. The visitors will be pushing for the 19th match in their quest to remain without losing any game, and last time the two teams met, PSG struggled to get a 0-1 win, which is another thing they will try to improve as they are not missing on any offensive power.

PSG to win outright has 1.44 odds, Lorient 7.50 and both teams to score 2.15 odds at Ladbrokes. PSG for both halves has 2.20 odds, Lorient to lead after 60 minutes 6.00 and over 2.5 goals 1.90 odds. A goal line of +2.5 has 1.92 odds and we’re betting 7 units on PSG to score in both halves with 2.37 odds, hoping Lavezzi does score one of the goals.
