Olympiakos Piraeus vs Atletico Madrid (Champions League, September 17th)

Olympiakos Piraues host Atletico Madrid for the first match of Group A in this year’s edition of Champions League. Atletico are the runners-up of the last edition, left a good impression on anyone with at least basic football knowledge and now they look forward to leaving their mark on international stage.

Olympiakos are hard to beat at home, previously they won their first two home matches, and last year they fell unluckily to Manchester United. After Campbell returned to Arsenal, the Greek Champions have been active on the transfer market and besides Mitroglou from Fulham they also got Roberto, Atletico Madrid’s goalkeeper. However, their most resounding transfer is Affelay from FC Barcelona, which leaves Olympiakos’ coach with a lot of options for the forward line.
Atletico Madrid come from a great La Liga win against Real Madrid, which marked their second in a row, as payback for the lost Champions League final. Those who deemed Atletico finished after Courtois and Costa left the team should watch their latest match, where the team was further boosted by Arda Turan’s return, crowned with the winning goal on Bernabeu. Despite the fact that Simeone is still suspended for the match, his influence is still felt in the way his players are able to read the matches. Upon flying to Piraues, Atletico was in full squad, bar Cristian Rodriguez who is still recovering from a muscle strain.

An outright Olympiakos win is at 4.50 with Ladbrokes, Atletico Madrid at 1.80 and a draw is at 3.40. Both teams to score at 2.05, a goal line of +2,5 at 1.95 and Atletico to score last is at 1.61. We are betting 7 units on Atletico Madrid to lead after 60 minutes at 2.37 with Ladbrokes.
