Maribor vs Schalke 04 (Champions League, 10.12.2014)

Schalke are making their bid for a last 16 qualification as they get ready to travel to Maribor in an attempt to overcome Sporting for the second place. The visitors have been horrible in the Chelsea match, and the result has not only left them on the third place, but also two points behind Sporting.

Schalke were all over the place in Bundesliga, and were vacating the last placed teams together with Borussia Dortmund. After the defeat against Freiburg they won three matches in a row, and the most recent result is a 0-4 win against Stuttgart. The first match ended in a 1-1 draw, and since then Schalke have been conceding goals as if they were in training.
Maribor-vs-Schalke04-10-November-2014-prediction
Maribor have an Europa League qualification in sight with a potential win against Schalke, but Stojanovic and Mejac are both under doubt. The hosts are second in their domestic league, three points behind the leaders. Maribor are yet to win a match against German opposition, and anything but a win will send them out of the competition. Roberto Di Matteo is confident his side can progress with Chelsea into the next round, but has doubts about Sidney Sam and Boateng.

Schalke have conceded at least three goals in the last three matches which is why over 2.5 goals with 1.72 odds from Bet365 looks interesting. In contrast, Maribor conceded only two goals in their last two home games, and it is clear that they will be regarded as the underdogs against the German opposition. A Schalke win has 1.80 odds, Maribor to win 4.75 and another draw, which would help neither team has 3.80 odds. Maribor with a +1.0 handicap has 1.90 odds, Schalke with a -1,0 2.00 odds and Huntelaar as an anytime goalscorer 1.72 odds. We are going to bet 7 units on Schalke to score in both halves with 2.50 odds.
