Manchester City vs Sunderland [Recap, March 2]

Manchester City won their first trophy of the season, by coming back from a 0-1 deficit to win with 3-1 against Sunderland. The bet we placed with William Hill on them to win to nil didn’t pay off in the end, yet it still was a highly entertaining match.

The Citizens are en route to all the other existing domestic trophies, and last night’s match proved they only have themselves to beat in order to emerge as winners. it was their won fear of not losing that made them look bleak, unimpressive and apparently doomed when Sunderland opened the score on the 10th minute when Borini used the outside part of his right foot to convert from Adam Johnson’s pass.

Sunderland was undisputedly the better team in the first half, yet the second one saw a different Manchester City. The Citizens went back to their dominating ways and the equalizer came on the 55th minute when Zabaleta assisted Toure for an amazing, 25 meters goal. Nasri made it 2-1 just three minutes later after a deflected cross from John O’Shea.

Manchester City sealed the match on the 90th minute when Jesus Navas finished off a quick pass from Toure. Sunderland has nothing to mourn, they were at level of performance with a team battling for the Premier League title, and if they continue like this they might as well stay in the League next year.
