France vs Portugal (Friendly Match, 11.10.2014)

One of the high profile friendly matches this weekend is set to take place between France and Portugal. Both teams have enough star power and individualities capable to decide the final score, and still France is considered by the bookies as favorite to win. The last time they played against each other was back in 2006 when France won with 1-0. In recent history Portugal was unable to win against Les Blues, a trend set to continue on Saturday.

France is not set to undergo qualification worries as they host the tournament, but they still want to get ready by playing against high profile teams. In September they played against Spain, won with 1-0, then met Serbia, ended the match in a 1-1 draw, and Pogba scored a wonder goal. Evra and Varane are most likely to be France’s dynamic duo in the defense, while Benzema and Pogba are set to be your obvious choices for the goalscorer market. Les Blues are one of those teams to leave the World Cup in Brazil with their heads held high after putting up a good performance and ending up bowing out to Germany.

Portugal comes from an unexpected 0-1 loss to Albania in the first round of Euro 2016 qualifiers. Their form has been irregular at best, but while they lost Coentrao to injury, Ronaldo is set to return to the squad and keep the team in check which will only translate into goals being scored. The visitors are indeed out to prove the loss to Albania was a fluke, but they might also want to avoid injuries prior to the qualification game against Denmark from next week. Portugal lost only one friendly match from the last seven they played, but they can’t win against France.

France are the favorites with 888sport to win outright at 1.85 odds, while a Portugal win has 4.00 odds. Almost always when France takes part in friendly the majority of goals are scored in the second half, which 888sport offers odds for. France for the second half has 2.20 odds, Portugal 4.30 and France to win both halves has 5.40 odds. A goal in the first 15 minutes has 3.40 odds and both teams to score 2.10 odds. We’re betting 8 units on France scoring over 1.5 goals at 2.10 with 888sport.
