England vs San Marino (EURO 2016 Qualifiers, 09.10.2014)

Back to the qualifications for the tournament in France, England is set to play against San Marino and amidst criticism Roy Hodgson has set a goal: his team to score 13 goals. San Marino managed to score only once against England, back in 1993, but this time Hodgson hopes that Wayne Rooney gets to score the majority of the goals even if he admits that last time they won with 13-0 he did not feel any satisfaction or got any praise for that.

San Marino is on the football stage for over 20 years, but has managed to win only one match, the majority of others were lost with big scores. It doesn’t look likely their scoring record will improve against England’s side that is ravaged by injuries. The latest victim is John Stones from Everton, who got injured this Sunday and was replaced by Calum Chambers from Arsenal. Wayne Rooney who is serving a Premier League suspension of three matches is tipped to become England’s top goalscorer if he nets four against San Marino (he has 1.67 odds to score two goals or more with William Hill.)
In a recent interview, Hodgson drew comparison between the former England captain Steven Gerrard and the current one: “The thing with Wayne, as it was with Steven Gerrard, is the passion that they have for football, for their country, and for their clubs.” There is no surprise that England are the overall favorites to win this match, as they have the squad depth to dominate statistic wise from the very start. An interesting betting market is England to lead after 15 minutes at 2.15 with William Hill, as an outright England win is at 1.01.

England for both halves has 1.04 odds, San Marino 101, which proves that any bet on an outright home team win will be a waste of money. Go for more specific markets, goals oriented; if you fancy one of England defenders to score William Hill gives Gary Cahill 3.75 odds to score anytime. The bookmaker’s headline offers for the Thursday match are as follows: Sterling to score two or more and England to win at 7.00 which we are betting 5 units on, and Wayne Rooney to score a hat trick and England to win at 8.00.
