Crystal Palace vs Liverpool (FA Cup, 14.02.2015)

Liverpool were pitted against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, a team they have to settle scores against, for both last season and this one. The hosts came from behind three goals to draw with Liverpool and make the Reds lose on the title, and in November, Crystal palace managed to win with 3-1 against an unimpressive Liverpool side.

Crystal Palace are 13th in Premier League with 27 points out of 25 matches and come from a 1-1 draw against Newcastle. Sanogo, Chung-yong and Ameobi are under doubt while Jedinak and Thomas are still battling injuries. The Eagles have experience in defeating Premier League teams in FA Cup after getting the best of Southampton in the previous round. Joe Ledley is their main man in the midfield area where he managed to win more than 50% of his duels and get the best of his tackles.
Liverpool are 7th in the Premier League and are slowly picking up the form they were lacking in the first half of the season. The Reds might be without their captain who got a muscle strain in the Tottenham win and with confidence flying high within the team, expect another of those highly entertaining matches these two teams have been a part of lately. Sturridge is back, and even with Sterling under doubt, Brendan Rodgers is going to field the best he has, which could see Liverpool with a three man front line of Markovic, Lallana and Balotelli.

The Reds are not doing well at Selhurst Park where they are unable to win in six matches, but you should be able to bet on goals, seeing as the last three matches between the two ended with more than 3.5 goals. Ladbrokes gives 2.00 odds for a Liverpool win, 3.60 for Crystal Palace and 3.50 for a draw. The hosts have 2.75 odds to qualify as opposed to Liverpool’s 1.40. If you fancy Balotelli to score again then Ladbrokes gives you 2.90 odds while Sturridge has 2.37, and despite the Reds being the stronger side on paper, expect a hard fought match where both teams will try to avoid the draw. A goal line of +2.5 has 1.95 odds and we’re going to bet 7 units on the second half with the majority of goals with 2.10 odds from Ladbrokes.
