Chelsea London vs Schalke 04 (Champions League, September 17th)

Chelsea start this season’s Champions League edition against Schalke 04 in a group where they could play with their reserves team and still finish first. The main focus for this particular match up will be the fact that The Blues will rely on the person who eliminated them last year to score two or more goals. Diego Costa sent Chelsea London home in the semi-finals, and now has four goals in three matches for The Blues.

Chelsea have looked very impressive in their season start, and the debate on whether it was thanks to Costa or Courtois. The hosts did not lose any points this Premier League campaign and are on the first place in the table. The two teams met last season, with The Blues winning both matches, scoring six goals and conceding zero. Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa are running the attack, and Jose Mourinho can afford to rotate his squad, while John Terry might get acquainted to the bench as a result of his recent own goal. Felipe Luis from Atletico Madrid might get his chance to start while Hazard needs to undergo a fitness test.
Schalke have had an opposite start to the season; they are still looking for their first win in Bundesliga, after the most embarrassing defeat against Gladbach. Jens Keller is hit with injuries as Farfan, Santana and Kolasinic are out for different periods of times. Julian Draxler is set for a late fitness test, but he should be fit to start. When asked about the starting eleven Keller stated that: “The question isn’t who will be back in time for the next game, but rather will anyone else be ruled out for it.” The only result Schalke can boast with is the 1-1 draw against Bayern Munich where Benedikt Höwedes scored the equalizer and denied Bayern several goals.

888sport credits Chelsea with 1.30 for an outright win, a draw is at 5.80 and Schalke gets enormous 10.50 odds for an outright win. Over 10.5 corners per match is at 1.95, and Chelsea as the team to end up with the most booking points is at 3.40, as opposed to Schalke’s 1.73. Both teams to score at 2.23 and Diego Costa as an anytime goalscorer and Chelsea to win at 2.08, but we’re betting 7 units on Chelsea to win and over 2.5 goals at 2.00 with the same bookie.
