Lorient vs Paris Saint Germain (Ligue 1, 01.11.2014)

October 31, 2014 0 News, Predictions, Soccer

Paris Saint Germain are the only unbeaten side left in Ligue 1 and they had a full week to prepare for the trip to Lorient seeing as they were eliminated from the Coupe de la Ligue. The visitors know how important a win will be to keep up the pace with Marseille, while Lorient, on the brink of relegation after 11 matches played will push for the win that will push them above Caen on the table.

Lorient has only one win in the last six matches, and in their last three defeats they were unable to score at least a goal; all this while having 14 goals against. Their most recent result is a qualification in the next stages of Coupe de la Ligue after coming from behind a goal to beat Evian with 1-2. Their main player, Jordan Ayew was satisfied with his team’s performance even if he admits that Lorient will have to be at their best if they are to walk away with at least one point. Diallo, Autret and Lautoa will miss due to injuries, while Ripoli will hope they can cut back on the difference in class.
PSG won comfortably against Bordeaux, Sirigu kept a clean sheet, but Thiago Silva insists that his team is not thinking about the derby against Marseille. With Ibrahimovic still nursing his ever present injury, PSG will get Cavani back from suspension, and hopefully no red cards will be shown this match. Lucas Moura scored two of the goals against Bordeaux, Lavezzi got the third one and Thiago Motta is also picking up form after missing out for quite some time. The visitors will be pushing for the 19th match in their quest to remain without losing any game, and last time the two teams met, PSG struggled to get a 0-1 win, which is another thing they will try to improve as they are not missing on any offensive power.

PSG to win outright has 1.44 odds, Lorient 7.50 and both teams to score 2.15 odds at Ladbrokes. PSG for both halves has 2.20 odds, Lorient to lead after 60 minutes 6.00 and over 2.5 goals 1.90 odds. A goal line of +2.5 has 1.92 odds and we’re betting 7 units on PSG to score in both halves with 2.37 odds, hoping Lavezzi does score one of the goals.

Schalke 04 vs Augsburg (Bundesliga, 31.10.2014)

October 30, 2014 0 Betting, Predictions, Soccer

Bundesliga gets interesting this Friday as Schalke will try to inject some of their Champions League form into the domestic competition when hosting Augsburg. The teams are separated by just one point, yet the visitors are on the 9th place, while Schalke are on the 12th.

Schalke are undergoing a makeover under Roberto Di Matteo, and yet the same team that won in Champions League, without Boateng started against Leverkusen, and lost with 0-1. The Royal Blues put pressure only in the second half when it was already too late to look for the equalizer. Against Augsburg, Kevin Prince Boateng is set to miss out with a knee problem, while Matip is under doubt. With Höwedes back Schalke regained some control of their back line, which bodes well for the hosts keeping the unbeaten record.
Statistics wise, Schalke 04 are the favorites to win as out of the last 5 matches they won three, and the other two ended in a draw. Augsburg gained confidence after two consecutive defeats by winning against Freiburg and keeping a clean sheet in the process. Verhaegh put Augsburg ahead and Altintop doubled the effort to give the hosts a well-deserved victory. No new fitness problems worry the team that will go for the win against Schalke as they are just 2 points short of the Europa League place.

Both teams display problems in different areas of the field, but looking at the odds, it’s easy to spot the obvious favorite. Schalke 04 got 1.80 to win outright, with Augsburg getting 4.33 to produce an upset. Another draw got 3.60 odds and Schalke for both halves got 2.80 odds as opposed to Augsburg’s 6.50. We are betting 7 units on Schalke to score in both halves at 2.65 odds from Ladbrokes seeing as Draxler, Huntelaar and Choupo-Moting could either open or close a match.

AS Roma vs Cesena (Serie A, 29.10.2014)

October 28, 2014 0 Betting, Predictions, Soccer

In the midweek Serie A fixtures, Roma host Cesena, the 17th placed team that haven’t seen three points since the first Serie A day. Due to the fact that Roma are placed second, and that they have had little problems to score when playing on Stadio Olimpico, the “Scudetto hopefuls” are tipped to win this match by a couple of goals margin.

Roma haven’t lost any match when playing at home yet, they have looked solid in defense even if the 0-0 draw from last weekend put some distance between them and the current leaders, Juventus Torino. Rudi Garcia is yet to inspire his team to get past the humiliating Champions League defeat in a sold-out stadium in Rome. Chances are Pjanic, Cole and Iturbe will start tomorrow, which will put Roma’s intention clear of wanting to take the lead early.
Cesena only managed to score two goals this season in away games, and Alejandro Rodriguez is their main goalscorer. The only point in away games this season came from the match against Udinese, and chances are they will not like to be reminded about the defeats against Juventus and Lazio. Agliardi and Coppola are poised to start instead of Leali and Cascione who are suspended.

In their last five head to head matches AS Roma conceded only two goals from Cesena while scoring eleven. If Totti will be rested, Roma have plenty of talent in the attack to hope for more than two goals. One of the most popular betting markets is Roma to win outright at 1.18, while Cesena got 18.00 odds to win. Both teams to score is another interesting market at 2.35 odds, while Destro to score has 1.82 odds. Rodriguez to score anytime has 8.50 odds, and we’re hoping Roma can replicate the 2012 result which is why we’re betting 7 units on over 3.5 goals at 2.60 odds with Unibet.

AC Milan vs Fiorentina (Serie A, 26.10.2014)

October 25, 2014 0 Betting, Predictions, Soccer

The defeat against Juventus looks to have done more good than bad to AC Milan as the Rossonerri are now sporting an unbeaten run of four matches. As Milan get ready to host Fiorentina this Sunday, the bookmakers are backing the hosts to earn a third consecutive win.

The Rossonerri are just five points behind Juventus and one point of the last Champions League place. Their best player at the moment is without any doubt Honda, and chances are Pippo Inzaghi will build his starting eleven around him. This role was tipped to go to Fernando Torres at the beginning of the season, but so far he has done little to impress the supporters. While Muntari said the Spaniard is an important piece to their puzzle, the press did not fail to notice the diplomacy and not honesty in his answer. Montolivo is the only absence from the team, and with Diego Lopez finally back from his injury, expect Milan to start with a new goalkeeper.
Fiorentina are a rather unlucky team and not only this term. The Viola come from a 0-2 defeat to Lazio and are on the 11th place in the table. In Europa League they managed to win against PAOK, which was their third straight one in the group, and are leading now the group with an iron fist. Fiorentina will miss the eternally injured Mario Gomez and Giuseppe Rossi. Considering the potential both players have it is understandable why Montella misses their contribution to the team. Nigel De Jong returns from suspension and Bet365 gives him 12.00 odds to score anytime.

AC Milan is the overall favorite of this match with 2.05 odds with Bet365, and Fiorentina to upset the Rossonerri has 3.60 odds. AC Milan to win to nil has 3.40 odds, Fiorentina for the same market 6.50 and the hosts to win either half 1.53 odds. Pazzini to score anytime 2.40 odds, El Shaarawy has 2.62 odds and Honda 3.50. We’re betting 8 units on AC Milan to score in both halves at 3.25 with the same bookie.

Getafe vs Atletico Madrid (La Liga, 26.10.2014)

October 25, 2014 0 Betting, Predictions, Soccer

There’s more to El Clasico for La Liga this weekend as Atletico Madrid face Getafe in an attempt to get back into the Champions League race. The bookmakers favor the visitors to win this match and not only because they are the current La Liga champions, but also as a result of the impressive Champions League win where they managed to score five goals in the second half and keep a clean sheet.

Getafe are doing quite well in La Liga, they have seven points from the last three matches and their late result is a deserved last minute win against Real Sociedad. Yoda scored both goals during extra time and kept Getafe with a positive goal difference. On Wednesday the team returned to training but without Arroyo, Leon and Vazquez nursing different injuries. Cosmin Contra divided the players in two groups and had the ones starting against Sociedad work different kind of exercises than the rest of the group. Getafe have the means to produce an upset, as the technician managed to save the team from relegation and even make them better.
Atletico Madrid lost only once this season, at the hands of Valencia, but Diego Simeone managed to pick the team up in time to destroy Malmo in Champions League with goals scored by five different players. During yesterday’s training session, Gabi, Tiago and Ansaldi made rehabilitation exercises and with no return date set, Simeone is left to hope it won’t take too much, especially for Gabi who has the better chances to feature in Sunday’s match. Atletico are the better team out of the two, and with all of the key players available you can easily bet on an Atletico win at 1.61 with Ladbrokes.

Getafe to win has 6.00 odds and a draw has 3.75 odds. Getafe looks a more organized team than they were last season, which could end up in not so many goals. Despite that 7-0 win from last season, Atletico always found it difficult to break Getafe’s defense, which outs value on the over 2.5 goals betting market. Yoda to score anytime has 4.50 odds, Mandzukic 2.15, Cerci 3.25 and Raul Garcia 3.00. We are going to bet 8 units on the second half with most goals at 2.10 with Ladbrokes odds.
