Eintracht Frankfurt – Mönchengladbach [Prediction]

February 28, 2013 2 Soccer, Sports, Tennis

The football teams Eintracht Frankfurt and Mönchengladbach are going to meet this Friday at Bundesliga.

Regarding this match and the latest five head-to-head confrontations between these two teams, I think it should be pretty clear who is going to win the match from Friday. Mönchengladbach has won 4 matches out of the latest 5 with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Last time they met was on the 7th of October, when the match ended in a 2-0 victory for Borussia Mönchengladbach. Earlier, on the 30th of January 2011, the match ended in a 1-0 victory for Mönchengladbach. The other two victories achieved by Mönchengladbach over Eintracht Frankfurt ended in a 2-0 and in a 2-1 victory.

On the other hand, we shouldn’t neglect the amazing 4-0 victory achieved by Eintracht Frankfurt over Mönchengladbach on the 11th of September 2010. That day, Mönchengladbach were simply humiliated in front of Eintracht.

In addition, Mönchengladbach hasn’t won any matches out of the latest five played, while Eintracht Frankfurt managed 2 victories, one against Hamburg this year on the 2nd of February and another one last year on the 26th of January against Hoffenheim.

All in all, judging by the latest performances of each team, I am going to place a bet on Eintracht Frankfurt. I bet 8 units at 2.10. The odds I used are from William Hill.

Chelsea – West Bromwich [Prediction]

February 26, 2013 3 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The English teams Chelsea London FC and West Bromwich Albion will meet this weekend on Saturday, March 2nd.
The last five direct confrontations saw Chelsea win three (6-0 in 2010, 3-1 and 2-1 in 2011) and West Bromwich have the upper edge in the two most recent ones (1-0 and 2-1 in 2012).

As far as the Premier League is concerned, the last 5 encounters look statistically the same for both teams, showing Chelsea with 2 games won (4-1 against Wigan Athletic and 2-1 against Arsenal), one tied (2-2 with Reading), and two lost (0-2 with Manchester City and 2-3 with Newcastle United). West Bromwich also won two (2-1 against Sunderland and 2-0 against Liverpool), tied one (2-2 with Aston Villa), and lost two (0-1 with Tottenham Hotspur and 1-2 with Everton). Momentum-wise, though, the Bromwich team looks like the favourite, having won its last two games and climbed to the 7th position in the championship standings.

But then, Chelsea has its morale rather high after managing to eliminate Sparta Prague and gaining access to the Round of 16 in the Europa League. And it will need a good result against West Bromwich in order to look optimistic for the game against Steaua Bucharest on March 7th. That, coupled with the fact that fourth-place Tottenham is trailing by only one point, thereby jeopardizing their sure-thing Champions’ League appearance next fall, will give Chelsea the necessary impetus to produce a good result.

Overall, judging by ratings and results, Chelsea has an advantage over West Bromwich. I place my bet on a Chelsea win, with the odds set at 1.40 at Bet365.

Ajjacio – Lille [Recap]

February 26, 2013 1 Betting, Soccer, Sports

Just as I’ve predicted, the match that took place on the 23rd of February between the football teams Ajjacio and Lille ended in a comfortable 3-1 Lille’s victory. This also means that I’ve won the bet I placed on Lille’s win.
Unfortunately for Ajaccio, who were unbeaten in 2013 before this match, the team found themselves in an awkward situation when Lucas Digne got a red card due to a bad foul on Mathieu Chalrne, and the visitors were reduced to 10 players.

Lille took the lead in the 38th minute, after Yoann Poulard scored the first goal of the match. Midway through the second half, Dimitri Payet from Lille added the second goal for his team. In fact, the goal was concretized in an amazing header from close range. After the second goal, scored in the 67th minute, Payet added another one in the 74th minute.

Three minutes later, in the 77th minute, Chakhir Belghazouani scored the first goal for Ajaccio. Unfortunately, it appeared to be just a consolation for the team, or better said “the goal of honour”.

All in all, it seems that a victory of Lille over Ajaccio was simply unavoidable, and that was augmented by a series of mistakes and some bad luck of Ajaccio.

Result: +12.1, bet won

Ajjacio – Lille [Prediction]

February 22, 2013 0 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The two football teams Ajaccio and Lille are meeting on the 23rd of February at the France Ligue 1.

If I were to judge only by the latest 5 head-to-head confrontations between these two teams, I would already declare Lille as the absolute winner. The last match between Ajaccio and Lille took place last year, on the 6th of October and ended in a 2-0 victory Lille’s victory. The ones who scored the two goals for Lille were Nolan Roux in the 42nd minute and Ryan Mendez in the 56th minute.

Before that match, the teams have met on the 15th of April, when Ajaccio were simply humiliated in front of a much stronger Lille. The score was 4-1 in Lille’s favor. The only player from Ajaccio who managed to score a goal in that match was Frederic Sammaritano in the 90+3rd minute of the game. On the other hand, the marvelous goals of Lille came in the 16th minute (Yoann Poullard), in the 37th minute when Joe Cole made himself remarkable, in the 81st minute when Gianno Bruno added the third goal for his team and in the 87th minute, when Eden Hazard scored the team’s last goal.

All in all, I think that this time Lille will also win comfortably in front of their opponents, Ajaccio even if it has been a while since their last head-to-head confrontation. Therefore, I am going to place a bet on Lille’s victory. I bet 10 units at 2.21. The odds I used are from IBCBET.

Yesterday evening I had a big surprise!!!!

As I’m a big fan of AFC Ajax, three days ago I’ve decided to go and watch live the UEFA Europe League game,Steaua BucharestAFC Ajax, in the round of 32.

All said and done. I went online and bought airplane and game tickets, made hotel reservation in Bucharest, and also decided not to wager on this game, so I would be able to enjoy the match for it’s beauty, not for the fact that the outcome of this game would bring me money.

Wednesday 20-february-2013, 10:30 A.M. I land in Bucharest for the second time, I’ve already been in Bucharest once for the UEFA Europe League Final in 2012, game that was won by Athletico Madrid and was played on Steaua’s home stadium, National Arena. The night before the game, nothing special happens, meeting with some fellow Ajax fans, took a tour or the bars, and went to sleep.

Next day when I got to the National Arena Stadium in Bucharest, I was ammazed by the athmosphere created by the romanian Steaua fans. Even if in the first leg of the UEFA Europe League round, Steaua Bucharest lost by 2 goals to AFC Ajax, not being able to score any goals, the fans where enthusiastic.

When the match began I realized why where the fans so enthusiastic, Steaua Bucharest was playing a totally different football from what we all saw last week on Amsterdam Arena.

Steaua managed to open the score in the 38th minute, with a magnificent goal scored by romanian player Jasmin Latovlevici, and were able to increase their lead and take the game into overtime, in the 76th minute of the game thaks to a shoot taken by the romanian player Vlad Chiriches.

After the romanian asault that lasted 90 minutes, the match went into overtime, and to another 30 minutes of war on the football pitch. Even if both teams tried to score the winning goal, neither of them could manage to do it, so the game went into the penalty phase, and as a great surprise Steaua Bucharest wins the game, qualifies in the next round and manages to send AFC Ajax back home as losers.

Even if Ajax was eliminate I’m really glad that I didn’t wager any money on this match.

Real Madrid – Manchester United [Recap]

February 20, 2013 3 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The match between Real Madrid and Manchester United ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning that I have definitely lost the bet I placed on Madrid’s victory.
On the 13th of February, Cristiano Ronaldo marked his first appearance against Manchester United with a goal, but that achievement appeared to be insufficient to win the match.

Danny Welbeck from Manchester United opened the scoring for the Premier League leaders in the 20th minute. Ten minutes later, Ronaldo reestablished the balance on the scoring table, by adding his 37th goal of the season.
Real Madrid made no surprises in its starting lineup, with French defender Raphael Varane replacing Pepe at center back and Mourinho picking his first-choice midfield and attack.
As for the atmosphere in the capital of Spain, it was simply marvelous. Thousands of United fans soaked up the atmosphere with lager and tapas in the city’s squares, bars and pubs. Inside the Bernabeu, teams were greeted by a wall of noise, banners and flags.

The boss of United, Sir Alex Ferguson seemed to be extremely decided to put into the game the attacking quartet compound of Van Persie, Wayne Rooney Welbeck, and Shinji Kagawa and the captain Nemanja Vidic who had just returned from a nasty knee injury.
All in all, I think this was a historical match, even if the scoring table didn’t look that fabulous.

Result: -10, bet lost

Real Madrid – Manchester United [Prediction]

February 13, 2013 3 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The worldwide known football teams Real Madrid and Manchester United are going to meet on the 13th of February at the Champions League.

Matt Law from The Daily Mirror stated that the transfer of Luka Modric to Real Madrid was the worst movement of the summer that La Liga made. When this happened, Manchester United set its sights elsewhere.

Modric would fit perfectly in the Manchester United lineup, and Alex Ferguson should keep an extremely close look on the midfielder. Since Michael Carrick has already turned 31, he cannot be counted on to continue orchestrating the attack of United in the future, even if his shape has considerably improved. That is why Modric is considered to be a significant chance for strengthening the team.

Moreover, Modric has the skills to excel both as a traditional central midfielder in a 4-4-2 formation or as a defensive midfielder in other lineups. His vision and passing are brilliant, and he proved to be simply amazing last season when he ranked third in the Premiership in terms of key passes.

This being said, after judging by each team’s latest performances and squad updates, I choose to place a bet on Real Madrid’s victory. I bet 10 units at 1.60. The odds I used are from William Hill.

Borussia Mönchengladbach – Bayer Leverkusen [Recap]

February 13, 2013 12 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The match between the German football teams Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen, ended in an ravishing 3-3 draw, which means that I’ve definitely won the bet I placed on Over 2.5 goals.

This way, Borussia Mönchengladbach prevented Bayer Leverkusen from retaking the second place in the Bundesliga chart with a late equalizer in a thrilling 3-3 match at Borussia Park. Still, Leverkusen remain only one point behind Borussia Dortmund.

I think that in this match, Bayer Leverkusen were more offensive than their opponents. Stefan Kießling was denied a penalty after a hard tackle of Martin Stranzl, who scored the first goal of the match in the 44th minute. So, although the visitors started brighter, and even had an Andre Schurrle effort ruled out for offside, the hosts managed to take the lead on the stroke of half-time when Martin Stranzl met a corner and sent a looping header over Bernd Leno’s body.

However, only minutes later, more specifically in the 52nd minute of the game, Leverkusen managed to re-establish the balance on the scoring table, when an impressive string of passes culminated in a lovely volley of Sidney Sam, who sent the ball right into the back of the net. 6 minutes later, Luuk de Jong from Mönchengladbach added the second goal for his team. He was followed by Stefan Kießling, who added the fourth goal of the match in the 60th minute. With the help of Andre Schurle who scored in the 64th minute, Bayer Leverkusen took the lead in the match for the first time. Unfortunately for them, the 86th minute arrived with another goal of Borussia Mönchengladbach, this time scored by Patrick Herrmann.

All in all, the match between these two German teams proved to be a sheer delight, exciting and at the same time enchanting, a true marathon of goals.

Result: +6.96, bet won

Borussia Mönchengladbach – Bayer Leverkusen [Prediction]

February 9, 2013 4 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The German football teams Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen are meeting tomorrow at Bundesliga I. Last time these teams met was last year, on the 23rd of September, when the result was a 1-1 draw.

On the 23rd of September, the football players who scored the goals were Michal Kadlec from Bayer in the 12th minute and Patrick Herrmann from Borussia Mönchengladbach who scored the first goal of the match in the 3rd minute.

As for the teams’ last five head to head confrontations, in most of them there were at least 3 goals scored and plenty of dedication from part of both teams. For example, on the 17th of March 2012, Borussia Mönchengladbach achieved a 2-1 victory against their opponents. Five months earlier, on the 15th of October 2011, the match ended in a 2-2 draw and on the 23rd of January 2011, Bayer Leverkusen achieved a legendary 3-1 victory against their neighbors and rivals. In that match, the football players who scored for Bayer were the same – Michal Kadlec (37’), and G. Castro who scored twice, in the 45th and 73rd minute of the game. On the other hand, Martin Stranzi from Borussia scored the only goal for his team in the 65th minute.

All in all, I think both teams are extremely motivated to fight for victory, that’s why I am going to place a bet on Over 2.5 goals. I bet 8 units at 1.87. The odds I used were from William Hill.

Birmingham City – Notingham Forest [Recap]

February 9, 2013 6 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The match between the English football teams Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest ended in a 2-1 Birmingham’s victory, meaning that I won the bet I placed on Birmingham’s victory.

The midfielder Chris Burke was the one who brought Birmingham the two goals in the 45+1st and 80th minute of the match, while Billy Sharp from Nottingham Forest scored the first and only goal for his team in the 90+3rd minute.

Ironically, the boss of Nottingham Forest, Alex McLeish ended the last week defeated by his former employees. In this match with Birmingham City, he made four major changes: Guy Moussi came in for Simion Gillet, Dan Harding for Elliot Ward, Andy Reid for Simon Cox and Darius Henderson for Dexter Blackstock. Moussi, who had made an encouraging return from injury, was replaced by Radi Majewski as McLeish looked to provide his side with a creative spark.

In the 68th minute, it appeared certain the striker Collins would mark his St Andrew’s bow with a crucial goal, but it was just not meant to be.

All in all, it was a neat and competitive match, and both teams could go home without any reason for feeling embarrassed.

Result: +10.96, bet won
