Birmingham City – Notingham Forest [Prediction]

January 30, 2013 1 Betting, Soccer, Sports

This weekend, the English football teams Birmingham and Nottingham Forest are going to meet at the English Premier League. This is going to be a difficult challenge for Nottingham, after finding themselves torn apart by one of the most prolific strike partnerships in the Championship.

Last time these teams met was on the 15th of September, when the match ended in a 2-2 draw. The football players who scored in that day were Simon Cox (in the 73rd minute) and Pablo Ibáñez (in the 86th minute) from Nottingham and Hayden Mullins (in the 69th minute) with Marlon King (in the 71st minute) from Birmingham City.

As for the latest five head-to-head confrontations between the English football teams, Nottingham Forest hasn’t won any, while Birmingham City has won twice: on the 2nd of October 2011, when the match result was 3-1 and on the 12th of January 2010, when the result was 1-0. The other three matches out of the latest five ended in draw.

The Nottingham Forest defender, Danny Collins, stated that some consistency in team selection would help them a lot. Also, he is aware of the fact that their play has to improve quickly in order to reduce the gap of goals between the two teams.

All in all, until Nottingham improve their strategy, I am definitely going to place a bet on Birmingham’s victory. I bet 8 units at 2.37. The odds I used are from William Hill.

Maria Sharapova – Na Li [Recap]

January 30, 2013 3 Betting, Sports, Tennis

Maria Sharapova lost the match with Na Li from the Australian Open semifinals. This also means that I lost the bet I made on the victory of Sharapova.

Moreover, the victory of Na Li over the Russsian ranked no. 2 proved to be a comfortable one. She only needed two sets to get into the final of the first Grand Slam of the year, and the score was 6-2, 6-2.

Sharapova was the clear favorite after losing only nine games in her first five matches, a record at the Australian Open since it expanded to a 128-player draw in 1988. Though, this semifinal started badly for Maria, who served two double-faults, and therefore conceded a break exactly in the first game.

On the other hand, Li had the backing of the crowd at Rod Laver Arena, where dozens of red and white Chinese flags swirled in the air. Li was the first Chinese player to reach a Grand Slam final in 2011, when she lost to Kim Clijsters in Melbourne.

All in all, this victory was highly deserved by the Chinese tennis player Na Li, but judging by the performances and the records achieved by Maria Sharapova this year at Australian Open, it was hard to anticipate.

Result: -10, bet lost

Maria Sharapova – Na Li [Prediction]

January 24, 2013 2 Betting, Sports, Tennis

The first Grand Slam of the year has already reached the semi-finals. On the 24th of January, the tennis players Maria Sharapova and Na Li are meeting in the semi-finals of Australian Open.

The undeniable favourite at winning this match, the Russian Sharapova, is currently ranked 2nd in the WTA chart and has won 27 titles as a single player and 3 titles in doubles. Her earnings in tennis exceed 23 million dollars and, for the moment, Maria hopes to capitalize on Serena Williams’ demise, and win her fifth Grand Slam title.
The Russian has been in amazing shape since the opening of this Grand Slam, winning five matches and losing only nine games, which is a new tournament record.

However, her opponent, Na Li is relaxed and confident. Her new coach, Carlos Rodriguez totally encourages her after she became the Asia’s first Grand Slam champion.

All in all, I think this is going to be a tough match, with plenty of spectacular moments. Though, I choose to place a bet on Maria Sharapova’s victory. I bet 10 units at 1.20. The odds I used are from Bet365.

Atletico Madrid – Betis [Recap]

January 24, 2013 1 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The football match between Atletico Madrid and Real Betis ended in a 2-0 victory for Atletico Madrid. This also means that I won the bet I placed on Madrid’s victory.

The football players who scored for Atletico were Radamel Falcao (in the 11th minute) and Filipe Luis (in the 23rd minute).  The goal achieved by Falcao was simply amazing. He scored by hitting with his head, after Raul Garcia perfectly centered the ball. It was the 58th goal managed by the Columbian in the last 70 matches.

Three minutes after the break, the Belgian goalkeeper managed to save the ball sent by Molina. Towards the end of the match, Atletico had three more chances to score but didn’t manage to fructify any of them.

A great opportunity was missed by Betis in the 28th minute, when Molina, Perquis and Vilarchao were unable to cope with Courtois.

Paulao Verteidiger from Betis got a yellow card in the 57th minute, and so did Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid in the 8th minute.

All in all, even the result of this match proved to be the expected one. Atletico did what they were supposed to do, which means winning the match.

Result: 3.6, bet won

Atletico Madrid – Betis [Prediction]

January 16, 2013 1 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The Spanish football teams Atletico Madrid and Betis are going to meet on the 17th of January at the Spanish Copa del Rey. Judging by the latest performances of each team, this shouldn’t be a difficult prediction.

The last confrontation between Atletico and Betis took place last year, on the 26th of September, when Atletico Madrid defeated their opponents with a score of 4-2. In that match, the “heroes” of Madrid were Radamel Falcao, who scored the first two goals of the match in the 28th and 48th minutes, Diego Costa who added the third in the 55th minute and Raúl García who scored the fourth goal in 93rd minute.

Even if Atletico Madrid is the clear favorite at winning this match, Betis’s performances are not to be neglected either. In the last five matches, Betis has 4 victories and only one lost match in front of Mallorca. Moreover, on the 29th of April 2012 Betis managed a 2-2 draw with Atletico Madrid and on the 18th of December 2011, they even defeated Atletico with 2-0. However, these results were achieved a long time ago and things have changed significantly since then for the two teams.

All in all, I am going to place a bet on Atletico Madrid’s victory. I bet 10 units at 1.36. The odds I used are from Bet365.
