Hamburg – Schalke 04 [Prediction]

November 26, 2012 3 Betting, Soccer, Sports

The German football teams Hamburg and F.C. Schalke are going to meet tomorrow in the Bundesliga I. I expect a thrilling match, with spectacular performances from both teams. Hamburg started the 2009/10 season very well, but unfortunately their hopes of winning the title were destroyed by the large number of injuries suffered by several key players. Jose Paolo Guerrero, for example, missed almost the entire season due to a knee injury.

The fact is that this season, Hamburg are both determined and prepared to fight for the title, and their main goal is to return to the European competition as soon as possible. The team should be encouraged by the stunning 2-1 victory achieved against the English giants Chelsea.

On the other hand, Schalke are aiming for their first title in 52 years. This summer, the coach of Schalke, Felix Magath, made his ambitions very clear by demanding funds for squad improvements. He attracted Raul and Sergio Escudero, the stars from La Liga, and allowed the striker Kevin Kuranyi to sign a contract.

Regarding the last two head-to-head confrontations between the teams (from 11 March 2012 and 2 Oct 2012) Schalke 04 has won them both pretty comfortably.

All in all, I think that Hamburg are determined enough to make a nice figure, but they are still not such a big challenge for Schalke 04, so I am going to place a bet on Schalke’s victory. I bet 10 units at 1.86. The odds I used are from IBCBET.

Manchester United – Queens Park Rangers [Recap]

November 26, 2012 4 Betting, Soccer, Sports

Manchester United had no problems winning the match against Queens Park Rangers. Manchester Utd. achieved a 3-1 victory against their less famous opponents. This also means that I won the bet I made on Manchester’s victory.

After this match, Harry Redknapp has probably learned a useful lesson, that from now on, he should think twice before sending Anton Ferdinand as a defensive substitute. After resisting Manchester United for an hour, QPR conceded three times in eight minutes. This dramatic situation was immediately followed by Ferdinand taking over from the injured Armand Traoré.

On the other hand, Sir Alex Ferguson might reconsider the situation of Paul Scholes, who proved to be ineffective for an hour, picked up his habitual caution for a poor tackle, and was replaced just a few minutes after Queens Park Rangers took a shock lead.

An interesting move took place when the shot of Kieron Dyer from a narrow angle was only parried by Anders Lindegaard. The response of Ferguson was to withdraw Scholes and Young, sending on Javier Hernández and Anderson to replace them. Things haven’t changed immediately after that, but once Manchester had levelled from a set piece within just an hour, everything was settled into a familiar pattern for them. Jonny Evans was the first who scored a goal, followed by Darren Fletcher, who met the corner of Rooney on the six-yard line.

All in all, even if QPR managed to stand still against a much powerful team, the experience of Manchester United was their key to success.

Manchester United – Queens Park Rangers [Prediction]

November 23, 2012 2 Betting, Soccer, Sports

On the 24th of November, at the English Premier League, the great Manchester United is going to meet a less famous English team, Queens Park Rangers. Manchester United are flying just one point behind their noisy neighbors.

It is pretty clear for me that on paper, United should defeat Rangers comfortably. Still, there are some glimmers of hope that QPR can demonstrate a nice performance, too.

The manager of Manchester United is likely to make some changes by keeping in-form Antonio Valencia in the starting line-up, which could result in Ashley Young being dropped too to assist him.

Rangers haven’t beaten Manchester United since New Year’s Day in 1992, a victory which is fondly remembered by the fans. The boss of QPR, Mark Hughes has to manage without the suspended Djibril Cisse, who misses his second match from a four-game ban. On the other hand, Armand Traore and Fitz Hall are still absent, too.

Regarding the last three head-to-head confrontations between the teams, Manchester United is leading unquestionably, with a 3-0 score.

All in all, I’m going to place a bet on Manchester United’s victory. I bet 10 units at 1.19. The odds I used are from IBCBET.

Ajax – Borussia Dortmund [Recap]

November 22, 2012 3 Betting, Soccer, Sports

Borussia Dortmund made themselves remarkable once again. They achieved a superb 4-1 victory, by defeating Ajax yesterday at the Champions League. This means that I’ve categorically won the bet I placed on Borussia Dortmund’s victory.  Within just 8 minutes, Borussia opened the scoring  via Marco Reus, before Mario Gotze doubled the lead with a nice finish.

After Reus set up Gotze down the right and continued his attack against Ajax, the home side immediately tried to hit back, by threatening Christian Eriksen and Derk Boerrigter after a corner. However, the shot of the former was blocked by Dortmund’s side.

A clumsy defending after a Borussia’s free kick lead to the second goal of the evening. After the pass of Mats Hummels, Gotze was left unmarked, and cut inside from the left before the past of Ricardo van Rhijn.

Things got worse for Ajax in the second half. Gotze tried his chances in the 41st of the match with a volley from outside the area, but his shot was immediately parried away by Vermeer. In the 67th minute, Gotze from Dortmund sent in a nice cross for Lewandowski, who controlled the ball in a superb way, before scoring from a narrow angle.

In conclusion, once again, Borussia proved to have no opponent.

Ajax – Borussia Dortmund [Prediction]

November 14, 2012 3 Betting, Soccer, Sports

On the 21st of November, the football teams Ajax and Borussia Dortmund are going to meet at the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp, the coach of Borussia Dortmund has a wide squad to pick from, since his team hasn’t encountered any injury problems so far.  One of their best players, Marco Reus, is expected to return for the match against Ajax, after the amazing and absolute 3-0 victory achieved against Bayer Leverkusen.

On the other hand, the leader of Ajax, Frank de Boer, will have to manage without some key players, such as Nicolai Boilesen, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Eyong Enoh, who are currently not available because of their injury problems. De Boer doesn’t appear willing to make too many changes to his team, especially now, after the hard-fought win achieved against RKC on Saturday.

The attacker Ryan Babel could be in line for his first match since his return, and this implies Siem de Jong to drop back into midfield at the expense of Lasse Schone.  Due to his suspension, Thulani Serero failed to win over RKC, but he has been included in the squad for the opening of the Champions League.

All in all, I think Borussia Dortmund are playing at a very high level this season, and they have all the chances to win over Ajax. I am placing a bet on Borussia Dortmund’s victory. I bet 10 units at 2.00. The odds I used are from Bet365.
