Nürnberg – Fortuna Düsseldorf [Recap]

The German football team Nuremberg managed an impressive 2-0 win against Fortuna Düsseldorf in their last game at Frankenstadion. This also means that I won the bet I made on the victory at Nuremberg.

Feulner was in sparkling form for the hosts, and Polter was the one who brought his team the first goal in the 27th minute. After that Feulner was restored to the Nuremberg starting XI since Hiroshi Kiyotake had the flu. The change with the former midfielder of Bayern Münich proved to be an inspired one, providing the team with a fresh, enterprising start of the game.

Fabian Giefer did his best to keep Düsseldorf in the game, but unfortunately there was little he could do in order to prevent a defeat. The result of this match made Fortuna Düsseldorf fall behind Nuremberg, on the 15th place. They proved to be simply unable to stem the flow of dangerous crosses from the Nuremberg side. Another delivery of Feulner was headed straight at Giefer by Javier Pinola.

The only real threat from the visitors came from the header of Dani Schahin, who was cleared off the line by Timothy Chandler on the hour mark. However, Giefer was kept busy as Nuremberg pushed for a second goal.

All in all, with this highly deserved victory, Nuremberg finishes the season in a perfect form.
