Monica Niculescu – Ayumi Morita [Recap]

The Romanian tennis player Monica Niculescu went home at the very beginning of the US Open Grand Slam. She was defeated in the first round, by the Japanese Ayumi Morita. Unfortunately, this event also led to my bet being lost. This time I lost a bet on which I was almost 100% sure, and I still cannot find a reasonable explanation.

Monica Niculescu, No. 33 WTA was undoubtedly defeated by an opponent who was far less better ranked than her. Moreover, Ayumi Morita, No. 95 in the WTA ranking, won the match against Monica relatively easy, by adjudicating both sets within just 1 hour and 17 minutes. The score was 6-3, 6-3, so we definitely couldn’t talk about anything spectacular.

From my point of view, Monica Niculescu’s performance at the US Open was quite embarrassing this time, and I truly hope it was just due to a bad day. She managed to reach a very good position in the WTA ranking in a relative short period of time, and it would be a pity if her evolution stopped here. However, after the participation at the US Open Grand Slam, she still went home with a pretty sum of money, this meaning $23,000 and 5 WTA points.

Result: -3 units, bet lost

I got into the exciting world of sports betting years ago when information on the subject was much more difficult to find. Of course I made a lot of rookie mistakes and bad bets but over time I learned from those experiences. Nowadays, those who want to start out placing sports bets have the opposite problem. There’s so much information available that it’s so hard to sort through it all and to know who to listen to. With this blog I’ll be doing that work for you and I’ll strive to bring you nothing but the best betting tips and information the internet has to offer. I invite you, my readers, to actively participate and share your feelings and experiences by commenting on my blog entries!

I saw that Romania has come up with very good tennis in the last few years, and if I’m not wrong, three of them are in the first 50. So Monica’s failure is not such a big deal! :) However, I feel sorry for you having lost the bet!

She is good, but let’s stop boasting her that much…because if it comes to face a true leader, she is pretty mediocre..look for example at this match between her and Azarenka: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AOUSU_bjIc
