Manchester United – Queens Park Rangers [Recap]

Manchester United had no problems winning the match against Queens Park Rangers. Manchester Utd. achieved a 3-1 victory against their less famous opponents. This also means that I won the bet I made on Manchester’s victory.

After this match, Harry Redknapp has probably learned a useful lesson, that from now on, he should think twice before sending Anton Ferdinand as a defensive substitute. After resisting Manchester United for an hour, QPR conceded three times in eight minutes. This dramatic situation was immediately followed by Ferdinand taking over from the injured Armand Traoré.

On the other hand, Sir Alex Ferguson might reconsider the situation of Paul Scholes, who proved to be ineffective for an hour, picked up his habitual caution for a poor tackle, and was replaced just a few minutes after Queens Park Rangers took a shock lead.

An interesting move took place when the shot of Kieron Dyer from a narrow angle was only parried by Anders Lindegaard. The response of Ferguson was to withdraw Scholes and Young, sending on Javier Hernández and Anderson to replace them. Things haven’t changed immediately after that, but once Manchester had levelled from a set piece within just an hour, everything was settled into a familiar pattern for them. Jonny Evans was the first who scored a goal, followed by Darren Fletcher, who met the corner of Rooney on the six-yard line.

All in all, even if QPR managed to stand still against a much powerful team, the experience of Manchester United was their key to success.

Result: +1.9 units, bet won

Honestly, I think Ferguson has real concerns about Anderson’s match fitness over the short and long term.

Every single season he starts well – whilst almost always flagging by 70 minutes after starting – and then gets injured and/or burned-out to disappear into the shadows of the McDonalds Drive-Thru for the rest of the season.
