Bayer Leverkusen – Wolfsburg [Prediction]

Bundesliga is back in action this week with a handful of matches worthy of your attention. Bookmakers give the best odds and this time we’ll focus on William Hill, with odds for the Bayer Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg game that we’re offering the prediction for.

Wolfsburg finds itself on the 12th place in the Bundesliga table, and it looks on its way to avoid relegation, granted it can do well in its last games, with Bayern, Hoffenheim or even Bremen. Its last two games ended in a draw, even if the team played quite well, except for maybe the match against Nurnberg where Wolfsburg managed to blow a half time advantage of 2-0. Even Wolfsburg’s Ivica Olic, who scored the 2-0 goal, was disappointed by the drop in form after the break.

Leverkusen on the other hand is in great shape seeing as its paving the way towards a Champions League qualification. The last game against Fortuna Dusseldorf ended with a 4-1 win, and Andre Schurrle and Stefan Kiessling scoring and putting even more distance between their team and the fourth placed one. The squad seems to have no major absentees, except Gonzalo Castro and Karim Bellarabi who completed individual training sessions and are expected to start the game, provided their condition allows it.

In their last six head to head games, the wins were divided equally between the teams, with Leverkusen winning three times and Wolfsburg doing the same including their last win in the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal. Usually the difference in scoring goals is not that big, the most it was a few years ago, a 3-0 that Wolfsburg didn’t even have time to process. A curious fact would be that in this Bundesliga, Leverkusen managed to score 58 times, while Wolfsburg only 46, but when you look at the statistics for conceded goals, it’s exactly the same only reversed; against Bayer Leverkusen there were only 46 goals scored, and against Wolfsburg 58.

Leverkusen scored at least once in all of their home matches this season, while Wolfsburg scored at least once in their last five away matches. This, however, shouldn’t be a determining factor, seeing as due to their strong squad and good form, Leverkusen arise as favorites. Then again, Wolfsburg is poised to score at least once, granted they can get over their last disappointing draw.

The game is set to take place at BayArena in Leverkusen at 15:30, GMT+1, so I will bet 6 units on Leverkusen’s win at 1.53. Odds were taken from William Hill.
